The Green Tea leaves from Matcha are shaded 3 weeks before harvest. The veins and stems are removed. During the shaded period, the plant produces more theanine and caffeine! This is why it produces a calming energy and is used in many ceremonial rituals.
I just tried the Matcha Love Organic Tea in a little tin from Krogers, the organic ceremonial is also fine, which can be ordered online. It has zero sugar, which I love, so I can add my own sweetener. You can use a bamboo spoon and sift through a little sifter into 175 F spring water. Never use boiling water with Matcha. Then whisk in a zig zag motion to produce a froth. I used my espresso steam frother. I frothed the Tea a little and then I frothed milk (or cream) and spoon scooped it into my Matcha tea. I added honey for sweetness and lemon wedge for garnish. The ceremonial drinking way is from a ceramic bowl, like you would drink the last bit of cereal milk-the way my parents always told me not to do! 😂 As always, do your own research, don’t believe the hype and look at where it comes from. Thank you very Matcha my husband said!
